Biography Margaret LeAnn Rimes was born on August 28th, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi. She started singing for her family when she was only eighteen months old. Seeing her potential her mother entered her in a talent contest at age five, she won it with her performance of Getting to Know You. She and her family moved to Garland, Texas soon after this and she continued to enter contests and perform. She recorded her first track at age seven which was sold near her home town after local performances. She gained a great deal of attention when, at age eight, she won two consecutive Star Search contests. At age eleven she recorded another album called All That which was produced by her father. One song in particular caught the attention of fans and Nashville record executive Mike Curb alike. The song was entitled Blue and it was written for Patsy Cline forty years earlier. Cline had passed away before ever recording the song. The man who wrote it heard LeAnn singing the National Anthem at a Dallas Cowboy's game and knew he had found the perfect voice for his song. LeAnn sang Blue with such maturity and vocal strength that Mike Curb offered her an immediate contract with his record label upon hearing it. She was thirteen when Blue was released nationally and the major Billboard hit put her directly in the spotlight. The album eventually went six times platinum and she won two Grammy Awards for her debut effort. Her next albums The Early Years and You Light up My Life, went two times and three times platinum, respectively. She followed with Sittin' On Top of the World, 1998, LeAnn Rimes, 1999, I Need You, 2001, God Bless America, 2001, Twisted Angel, 2002, This Woman, 2005 and Whatever We Wanna in 2006. Many of her singles have gone platinum since, most famously, How Do I Live, which was released in 1997, stayed at number one for an astonishing eight months and an unheard of two hundred weeks on the country singles charts. LeAnn has been praised for trying new styles of music outside of country and has recorded rock, pop and R & B tunes in addition to traditional country tracks. She is also admired for her philanthropic endeavors for which she devotes much time and money to. LeAnn continues to grow as both a singer and a humanitarian and music critics agree that the best is yet to come from her musical talent. On the personal front she married dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002. Tidbits
