Biography
Kylie Minogue was born on May 28th, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. Her father is Australian and her mother Welsh. She is the oldest of three. She started her career early at the age of eleven on Australian soap operas. She gained recognition in 1986 for her role in the hit soap Neighbors. She is hugely popular in her home country and the United Kingdom as well, and has gained nationwide recognition for her acting and singing. She became well known for ability to change her style and persona frequently.
Her singing career fluctuated over the course of her twenty-five years of performing, never-the-less the media and the public alike have been intensely interested in the star. While early on in her life she did some singing she was mostly focused on acting, later she pursued her voice talent. She has released nine albums and has had over forty hit singles worldwide. She has also appeared in nine different movies, including Moulin Rouge. She has filmed countless music videos, most of which have become enormously popular on Australian television. Her likeness has appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair and The Face to name just a few.
Some of the albums she has recorded include: Kylie, Enjoy Yourself, Impossible Princess, Fever and Body Language. She is often touted as the Australian Madonna and has admitted to the media that she admires the pop star greatly. Minogue is very close to her family and her father is her financial advisor while her mother often joins her on tour. In May of 2005 the media reported that she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. The last leg of her scheduled Showgirl Tour was postponed so that she could seek treatment. After receiving surgery and chemotherapy she publicly announced that she would be completing her tour in late 2006 and thanked her fans for their support and understanding during her illness.
On the personal front she has dated actor Rupert Penry-Jones, Zane O'Donnell, photographer Stephane Sednaoui, comedian Pauly Shore, musician Lenny Kravitz. She became engaged to actor Oliver Martinez in 2004.
