Videos more videos Biography Rachel McAdams is a Canadian actress, best known for roles of Regina George in Mean Girls (2004) and Allie in The Notebook (2004). Rachel McAdams was born on October 7, 1976 in London, Ontario. She grew up in a small town in Ontario called St. Thomas. Her father, Lance McAdams works as a truck driver, and her mother, Sandra is a nurse. She has two younger siblings-Kayleen and Daniel. Even as a young child, Rachel was interested in arts. She began figure skating when she was just four years old. At the age of 13, she started acting in a summer theatre camp. She loved acting so much that she ended up joining the Original Kids Theatre Company in London, Ontario. To pursue a career in acting, she majored in Theatre Arts at York University. Rachel started her professional acting career in 2001 when she made her debut in the Disney television series The Famous Jett Jackson. She next landed the role in the short-lived television series, Shotgun Love Dolls (2001). In 2002, she was seen in a small role in an episode of the television series Earth: Final Conflict. She was next seen in the television series Guilt by Association (2002). Rachel made her film debut with the film My Name Is Tanino (2002) as Sally Garfield. This was followed by the film Perfect Pie. She soon landed the lead role in The Hot Chick (2002). She played the role of a stuck-up teenager Jessica who wakes up one day to find that she has swapped bodies with a 30 year-old man, Clive played by Rob Schneider. In 2003, she worked in the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows. It was in 2004 that she did the films, Mean Girls and The Notebook that brought her into the big league of stars. In Mean Girls, she plays the role of another snotty teenager Regina George opposite Lindsay Lohan. With a stellar performance, Rachel became a household name in the US. She even won a nomination for the 2005 MTV Movie Award as the Best Villain for this role. However, it was The Notebook that made her a star. In this adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks' book, Rachel plays the role of Allie, a rich, young girl who falls deeply in love with a boy (played by Ryan Gosling) not from her class. She won three MTV Movie Awards with this role: Breakthrough Female Performance, Best On-Screen Team, and Best Kiss. Rachel and Ryan Gosling relived their on-screen chemistry with a passionate kiss on the stage of the MTV Movie Awards that sparked their off-screen romance. In 2005, Rachel starred opposite Owen Wilson in Wedding Crashers. She also acted in the thriller Red Eye and worked in the comedy The Family Stone opposite Diane Keaton. Rachel's star is definitely on the rise.
