Videos more videos      Biography Shannon Tweed is a Canadian actress and fashion model. She is best known for being the Playmate of the Year in 1982 and the girlfriend of KISS vocalist and bassist, Gene Simmons. She is also a well-known mainstream erotica actress and is known for her films The Surrogate and Night Eyes 2 & 3. Shannon Lee Tweed was born on March 10, 1957 in St. John's, Newfoundland. Her father was a mink rancher. She is the third of seven siblings. Her older sister is actress Tracy Tweed. When she was young, the blonde beauty took part in many beauty contests. Shannon got her big break when as part of the Canadian wish-fulfillment TV series Thrill of a Lifetime, she got the chance to pose for Hugh Hefner's Playboy. She became the Playmate of the Month for the November 1981 issue. Soon after, she became the Playmate of the Year in 1982. With her appearances on Playboy, Shannon shot to fame. She was also briefly involved with Hugh Hefner at that time. However, her stint with Playboy ended when Hugh Hefner discovered that she was taking drugs. The magazine has a policy forbidding playmates from taking drugs. In 1982, Shannon landed a role in the primetime soap opera Falcon Crest. She appeared only in the first season. She went onto appear in guest roles on many television shows including Fantasy Island, The Dukes of Hazzard, Three's A Crowd, Highway to Heaven, The Hitchhiker, L.A. Law, The Howard Stern Show, Married... with Children, Wings, Nash Bridges, V.I.P., Get Real, The Parkers, and 21 Jump Street. In 1985, Shannon landed a regular spot on the television series Days of Our Lives. Shannon has acted in more than 50 films in a career spanning twenty years, most of which are straight-to-video B-movie erotic thrillers. These include Of Unknown Origin, Hot Dog... The Movie, The Surrogate, Steele Justice, Lethal Woman, In the Cold of the Night, Code Name Vengeance, Twisted Justice, Night Visitor, Last Call, Sexual Response, Night Eyes 2, The Naked Truth, Indecent Behavior, Cold Sweat, Scorned, No Contest, Nightfire, Illicit Dreams, Hotline, Victim of Desire, Bimbo Movie Bash, Forbidden Sins, The Rowdy Girls, and Diaries of Darkness. Shannon also acted in the films Dragnet (1987), Meatballs III (1987), Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1988), and Detroit Rock City (produced by boyfriend Gene Simmons in 1999). In the nineties, Shannon appeared in guest roles in popular series like Baywatch and Frasier. She also appeared with her sister Tracy in many Playboy magazines including Playboy's Sisters in March 1992. Shannon has been living with musician Gene Simmons since 1983. They have two children, Nicholas (born 1989) and Sophie (born 1992). In 2006, Shannon wrote her autobiography, Kiss and Tell, which was published by Phoenix Press.
