Channing Tatum
Biography Channing Tatum is an American actor and former model of French, Irish and Native American ancestry. He is best known for his role in the film Step Up (2006). Channing Bryan Isaac Tatum Anderson was born on April 26, 1980 in Cullman, a small city in Alabama. He has seven younger siblings. When he was six years old, his parents and family shifted to Mississippi. However, he still spends his summers with his grandparents in Alabama. In Mississippi, young Channing enjoyed fishing and playing with rattlesnakes and alligators. He grew up to be athletic and took part in sports like football, soccer, track, baseball and martial arts. When he was in the ninth grade, he was enrolled in a military school, where he was part of the football team. He even received a football scholarship to Glenville State College in West Virginia. However, he refused the scholarship because he grew tired of football. Channing began his career in the fashion industry as a model when he was cast as a dancer in Ricky Martin's music video She Bangs. He was reportedly paid $400 per day for the shoot. Channing next signed a contract with Page 305 (Page Parkes Modeling Agency), a modeling agency in Miami. He soon appeared in the Vogue magazine and modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Dolce & Gabbana, American Eagle Outfitters, and Emporio Armani. He also went on to star in television commercials for American Eagle Outfitters, Pepsi and Mountain Dew. In 2001, he was named one of 50 Most Beautiful Faces by Tear Sheet magazine. In 2004, Channing started his acting career when he made his television debut in an episode of the television series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. A film career was not far behind. In 2005, Channing made his feature film debut with a role as Jason Lyle, a street-smart basketball player, in the high school drama, Coach Carter opposite Samuel L. Jackson. Channing was also seen in Twista's Hope music video, a promotional video for the film. That year, Channing was also seen in an uncredited role as a boy in a church in War of the Worlds. He also appeared as Rowdy Sparks in Supercross and as Nick in Havoc. In 2006, Channing acted in the film She's the Man, playing the love interest of Amanda Bynes's character. That year he also acted in the dance-themed romance film Step Up. However, it was his role in a street youth in Astoria, Queens in the 1980s-set drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints that won him recognition and positive reviews at its premiere at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. He also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Male.
