Biography
Kate Garraway was born on May 4, 1968 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. She graduated from Fitzharry's School in Abingdon and in 1987 attended Bath University where she gained a Bachelors in English and History. She became a broadcaster soon after graduation with the BBC Radio, Oxford. In 1994 she had transitioned to being an Independent TV News journalist trainee. The following year she took a job with Central News as Production Journalist, Reporter and news presenter. She is currently one of the most popular news presenters in the UK.
In 1995, Kate joined Meridian Tonight as their main presenter. After two years at Meridian, she was picked as one of the team of presenters to launch the BBC's 24 hour news channel called News 24. She joined Sky News breakfast show, 'Sunrise' as their main anchor in July 1998, covering stories such as the Kosovan Crisis, the Paddington Rail Disaster and the Turkish Earthquakes.
Additionally, she has presented Sky's Oscar Special and launched their 48-hour live Millennium coverage. Kate has also hosted Ultimate Psychic Challenge on Channel 4, and Access Hollywood for Living TV. Kate has also appeared on the ITV show Des and Mel and co-presented with Des O'Connor and she presented ITV's lunchtime show Too Many Cooks. In addition to her multiple roles in broadcast journalism she has also had several acting parts including stints in the following: Loose Women, Have I Got News For You and The Wright Stuff. On national TV, Kate announced her engagement to Derek Draper on July 27, 2005. Draper is a psychotherapist. The couple married on September 10, 2005. They gave birth to their first child, whom they named Darcey. She was born on March 10, 2006.
