Biography
Stacey Dash is an American film and television actress. She is best known for her role as Dionne Davenport, a high school student, in the film Clueless (1995) as well as a television series by the same name in 1996.
Stacey Dash was born on January 20, 1966 in Bronx, New York City. As a child, she took a keen interest in acting and even then knew that she was going to be an actress. When she was in third grade at school, she played the role of Bambi's mother in a play. Her performance was well received and she went on to act in the television series Sesame Street, St. Elsewhere, The Cosby Show, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
In 1988, at the age of 22, Stacey made her film debut as Richard Pryor's daughter in the comedy film Moving.
Stacey next went on to do the films Mo' Money (1992) with Damon Wayans, Renaissance Man (1994) with Danny DeVito, and Black Water starring Julian Sands and Johnny Cash.
In 1995, Stacey starred in the film Illegal in Blue, playing the role of a sexy femme fatale.
However, it was with the film Clueless the same year that Stacey got her big break. She played the role of a teenager, Dionne Marie Davenport opposite Alicia Silverstone. Even at the age of 29, she was able to carry of the role well and looked much younger than her age.
The film was so successful that a television series was created based on the film. Stacey again played the role of Dionne in the series. The series was on air till 1999.
Meanwhile, in 1997, Stacey acted in the film Cold Around The Heart in which she was seen in the nude.
In 1998, Stacey acted in the film Personals. The next year in 1999, Stacey appeared as Vanessa Weir in the television series The Strip.
Stacey next acted in the film The Painting and A View from the Top starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Christina Applegate, Kelly Preston, and Mike Myers. Her other films include Gang Of Roses with Monica Calhoun, Lisa Raye, and Lil' Kim as well as Getting Played with Vivica A. Fox, Bill Bellamy, and Carmen Electra.
In 2004, Stacey appeared in a music video for the song All Falls Down.
In 2006, at the age of 40, Stacey posed for the Playboy magazine. That year, she also featured in the video for Marques Houston's song, Favorite Girl.
On the personal front, Stacey married Brian Lowell in July 1999. They met on the set of Clueless where he worked as an electrician. She has two children, a daughter (born in 1988) and a son Austin (born in 1991) whose father is R&B singer Christopher Williams.
