Biography Amanda Leigh Moore was born on April 10, 1984 Nashua, New Hampshire to Don Moore, a pilot for American Airlines, and Stacy Moore, a former newspaper reporter. Moore has Irish and Cherokee heritage on her father's side. Moore has two brothers, Scott and Kyle; she grew up in Seminole County, Florida, outside of Orlando, moving there shortly after her birth because her father needed to relocate for his job. She was raised Roman Catholic. She attended Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs. Her interest in singing grew after seeing the musical Oklahoma! when she was a young girl. She was also encouraged to perform by her maternal grandmother, who Mandy says was her inspiration to sing and act. Originally thought of as a bubble gum pop star like Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears, she prefers to be thought of as a maturing singer and actress. In 1999 she released her first album, So Real, which included the hit single Candy. Her second album, I Wanna Be With You, was released in 2000. Her films include the teen romances A Walk To Remember in 2002, Saved, in which she had a starring role, in 2004, and Romance & Cigarettes in 2005 which starred Soprano's actor James Gandolfini. Other CD's include Coverage in 2003, Candy in 2005 and Slummin in Paradise in 2006. She continues to mature as a singer, actress and songwriter. Tidbits
