Biography

Vivica A. Fox is an African-American actress. She is best-known for her roles in some outstanding films such as Independence Day, Soul Food and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2.

Vivica Anjanetta Fox was born on July 30, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the youngest in her family with one sister and two brothers. Vivica went to the Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California to graduate with an Associate Art degree in Social Sciences.

Vivica started out as a television actress in 1988 with roles in China Beach: Lost and Found: Part 1 (#2.1) followed by its second part and the soap opera, Days of Our Lives (1988).

In 1989, Vivica worked in the television series Generations and Who's the Boss?: Living Dolls (#6.5) before making her film debut. She made her film debut with a minor role in the film Born on the Fourth of July (1989). That role did not do much for her film career and she went on to continue doing television.

In 1991, Vivica was cast as Jazz's sister on the hit show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1991). Other notable television performances include her role as Patti LaBelle's fashion designer daughter, Charisse Chamberlain on the NBC television series Out All Night (1992) and her role as Stephanie Simmons in The Young and the Restless (1995).

It was in 1996 that Vivica got her big break when she appeared opposite Will Smith in Independence Day. She played the role of Jasmine Dubrow, the sexy and brave stripper girlfriend of pilot Will Smith. Their chemistry won them the MTV Award for Best Kiss.

Vivica went on to do Set It Off (1996) with Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Blair Underwood, Booty Call (1997), Batman & Robin (1997) opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman and George Clooney.

Vivica's next phenomenal performance came in 1997 in the film Soul Food. She won the MTV Movie Award and NAACP Image Award nominations.

In 1998, Vivica starred in Why Do Fools Fall In Love (1998) opposite Larenz Tate, Halle Berry and Lela Rochon.

In December 1998, Vivica got married to singer Christopher Harvest, also known as Sixx-Nine. However, the marriage didn't last long and she divorced him in 2002.

In 1999, she worked in the thrillers Idle Hands and Teaching Mrs. Tingle.

After a string of flops and mediocre films in 2001, Vivica finally came back literally with a bang in the leading role of assassin Vernita Green in the hit Quentin Tarantino film, Kill Bill (2003). She is also seen in the second part of the movie. The party seems to have just begun for Vivica.
