Videos more videos Biography Suzanne Somers is an American actress and author. She is best known for her role as Chrissy Snow on the sitcom Three's Company (1977-1981). Suzanne Marie Mahoney was born on October 16th, 1946 in San Bruno, California. As a child, she had dyslexia and was not good at academics. She however shone in dramatic arts and dreamt of being an actor. She even won a music scholarship. However, her tenure at college was cut short when she became pregnant and married, Bruce Somers, her baby's father. In November 1965, Bruce Jr. was born. However, the marriage came to an end in 1967. In 1968, Suzanne got her first break when she appeared on Anniversary Game as the prize girl. She then started dating the host of the show, Alan Hamel and married him in 1977. Suzanne next did many small roles in films. However, the one that led to her big break was as a blonde in a Thunderbird in the film American Graffiti (1973). She became so popular that she became a regular guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and even published a book of her poems Touch Me. Suzanne next shifted to Los Angeles and played minor roles in television films like Sky Heist (1975). It was in 1977 that Suzanne got a big break when she was cast as Chrissy Snow on the sitcom Three's Company. The sitcom became highly popular and so did Suzanne. She left the sitcom in 1981 after the producers refused her demand for a raise from $30,000 an episode to $150,000 an episode as well as 10% ownership of the show. Meanwhile, Suzanne acted in several television films including It Happened at Lakewood Manor (1977), Zuma Beach (1978), Yesterday's Hero (1979), and Nothing Personal (1980). After leaving the sitcom, Suzanne became an entertainer in Las Vegas and won the Vegas' Entertainer of the Year Award in 1986. She also became a spokeswoman for the ThighMaster, a television infomercial. In 1987, Suzanne starred as Sheriff Hildy Granger in She's the Sheriff. The next year, she published her memoir of her unhappy childhood, Keeping Secrets. It became a bestseller and was even made into a film in 1991. In 1991, Suzanne landed the role of Carol Foster in the sitcom Step by Step that had a successful run for seven years. Meanwhile, Suzanne acted in several television film including Exclusive (1992), Seduced by Evil (1994), Devil's Food (1996), and Love-Struck (1997). In 1994, she played herself in the comedy Serial Mom. She also published a book Wednesday's Children: Adult Survivors of Abuse Speak Out (1992). In 1998, Suzanne co-hosted the show Candid Camera. That year, she also published her autobiography, After the Fall: How I Picked Myself Up, Dusted Myself Off, and Started All Over Again. In 1999, Suzanne became a fitness guru with her low-carbohydrate diet "Somersizing" introduced in her bestsellers Eat Great, Lose Weight, Get Skinny on Fabulous Food and 365 Ways to Change Your Life. In 2001, Suzanne revealed that she was fighting breast cancer with the help of homeopathy. That year, she did a cameo in the film Say It Isn't So and published Somersize Desserts. In 2002, after recovering Suzanne was back with more fitness and self-help books.
