Samantha Cole
Biography Samantha was born in Southampton, New York. She began taking music lessons when she was twelve years old. When she was sixteen she performed on MTV's The Grind. Her break came she became a regular singer at Tatou in NYC. While singing there she was introduced to several EMI executives. She created some demos for them and two weeks later Universal Music CEO Doug Morris signed her to his new label. She credits her musical inspirations to Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Bette Midler, Celine Dion and Patsy Cline. Her songwriting style draws heavily on her own personal experiences and those of people close to her. She is dedicated to helping children in her home town via the United Way organization. She wrote the song Journey to raise funds for that group and also worked on a children's book for them as well. She is involved in the writing of all of her music and often works with other songwriters to get artistic input. As she states on her website, "Over the last two years I have grown and learned from everything I have been through. I feel my writing is influenced by what life has thrown at me the last two years. I'm taking my time with my second album to ensure quality, and to make sure it has something to say that's real and true." Tidbits
