Videos more videos Biography Wentworth Miller is an American actor of African, Jamaican, English, German, Jewish, Cherokee, Russian, French, Dutch, Syrian, and Lebanese descent. He is best known for his role as Michael Scofield, the engineer-turned-convict on the popular FOX Network television series Prison Break. Wentworth Earl Miller III was born on June 2, 1972 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England. His father is a Rhodes Scholar and is of African, Jamaican, English, German Jewish, and Cherokee descent. His mother is a teacher and is of Russian, French, Dutch, Syrian, and Lebanese descent. He has two sisters who are practicing law. When Wentworth was just a one year old, his family moved to Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. Wentworth studied high school at Midwood High School for three years. He next studied at Quaker Valley Senior High School in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh and graduated from high school in 1990. Wentworth was interested in making a career in showbiz from a young age. He was first bit by the acting bug when he was studying English Literature at Princeton University. Out there, he became part of the world-famous a capella group, The Princeton Tigertones. It was with The Princeton Tigertones that he first came to know about his talent for performing before big and small audiences. In 1995, Wentworth graduated from Princeton University and thereafter he shifted to California to pursue his dream of making a career in showbiz. He gave many auditions but was unsuccessful in landing any roles. He therefore worked as a production associate on three made-for-television films in 1996 to support himself. In 1998, Wentworth finally got his break and made his television debut with a role in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He then appeared in a number of television shows in 2000, such as ER, Time of Your Life, and Popular. In 2002, Wentworth appeared in his first starring role as the introvert David Scott in the mini-series Dinotopia. In 2003, Wentworth played the role of young Anthony Hopkins in the critically acclaimed film, The Human Stain. Two years later in 2005, Wentworth got his big break when he was cast as Michael Scofield in the television series Prison Break. The series became a hit and made Wentworth famous. His performance won him the Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series as well as the nomination for Best Actor on Television at the Saturn Awards in 2006. In 2005, Wentworth also appeared in an episode in the series Ghost Whisperer. That year, he also appeared in the music videos of Mariah Carey's It's Like That and We Belong Together. His appearance in the video was slated to the second sexiest music video cameo of all-time by the Entertainment Weekly's website.
