Biography

Kirsten Dunst is an American actress who has also been a famous child actress. She is best-known for her role as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man and its sequels as well as her films Jumanji, The Virgin Suicides, and Bring It On.

Kirsten Caroline Dunst was born on April 30, 1982 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Her father, Klaus Dunst is German and a medical services executive. Her mother, Inez, is Swedish and a former art gallery owner.

When Kirsten was just three, she started out with television commercials. But she was destined for bigger things.

In 1988, in a sketch on Saturday Night Live, she played President George H. W. Bush's granddaughter.

In 1989, Kirsten made her film debut with Woody Allen's New York Stories. She followed this up with the role of Campbell McCoy opposite Bruce Willis and Melanie Griffith in The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990).

It was in 1994 that Kirsten was taken seriously as an actress. She gave a powerful performance as Claudia opposite Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). Her performance won her the MTV award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the Saturn award for Best Young Actress. She also won a Golden Globe nomination. She kept up her popularity with a string of hits including Little Women (1994) with Winona Ryder, Jumanji (1995), and Small Soldiers (1998).

In 1999, Kirsten received critical acclaim for her role in Sofia Coppola's directorial venture, The Virgin Suicides. She plays the role of Lux Lisbona, a sexually curious and rebellious daughter of overprotective parents.

In 2000, Kirsten graduated from Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles. That year she worked in the hit comedy Bring It On (2000). Other films that year include The Crow: The Salvation, All Forgotten, Luckytown, and Deeply.

In 2001, she starred in the teen romantic film Get Over It (2001). She made her singing debut in this film with two songs. She also sang in the film The Cat's Meow (2001). She had earlier appeared in the music video of Savage Garden's I Knew I Loved You with Darren Hayes.

Kirsten had now grown up into a beautiful blue-eyed blonde. She got her first break as an adult actress with the film Spiderman opposite Toby Maguire in 2002. She plays the role of Spiderman's love interest, Mary Jane Watson. She also played the same role in its sequels.

The film Spiderman and its sequels went on to be blockbusters and helped Kirsten make a smooth transition from being a talented child actress to a successful adult actress. At a young age, Kirsten has achieved much and she still has a long way to go.
