Videos more videos      Biography David Hasselhoff is an American actor and singer. He is best-known for his starring roles in the popular series Knight Rider and Baywatch. These roles have made him "The Most Watched TV Star in the World" in the Guinness Book of World Records. David Michael Hasselhoff was born on July 17, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from high school, David attended the Academy of Dramatic Arts and also sang with local bands in his spare time. As a child, David dreamed that he would be a pop star one day. However, it was television that gave him his big break. In 1973, when he was 21, David was cast as Bill "Snapper" Foster in the daytime soap, Young and the Restless. The soap became very popular and he continued in the role for six years. In 1982, he starred in the primetime fantasy action series Knight Rider. He played the role of crime fighter Michael Knight and won the People's Choice Award for Most Popular Actor. The series became an international hit and David became an international star. In 1984, riding on the wave of his international popularity, David released his debut album, Night Rocker. In 1987, after the series Knight Rider ended, he released his second album, Lovin' Feelings. However, it was in 1989, that he got his big break in music. In the summer of 1989, he recorded Looking for Freedom with German producer/composer Jack White. The release coincided with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the song went on to be a super hit and a kind of an anthem for Germans. The album went triple platinum in Europe and David performed Looking for Freedom from atop the Berlin Wall during the Berlin Wall concert. Since then, David has released several hit albums in Europe including 1990's Crazy for You, 1993's You Are Everything and 1997's Hooked on a Feeling. His childhood dream of becoming a pop star finally came true. In 1989, David starred as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch. However, the series was canceled by NBC. Seeing the potential of the series, David along with his partners acquired it. They went on to become its executive producers. Baywatch went on to become an international hit series and ran for ten seasons. With its success, David also raked in millions as well as super stardom. David has also acted in several films, including Layover, Legacy, Final Alliance, Don't Call Me, John Waters' A Dirty Shame, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. He also acted in the Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde, and the West End musical Chicago. On the personal front, Davis got married in 1984 to actress Catherine Hickland but they got divorced in 1989. In 1989, he married actress Pamela Bach. They have two daughters. However, after 16 years of marriage, in 2006, they filed for divorce.
