Biography
Cindy Margolis is an American model, talk show hostess, and actress of Jewish heritage. She is best known for her own television show, The Cindy Margolis Show.
Cynthia D. Margolis was born on October 1, 1965 in Los Angeles, California.
Cindy engineered her own career. While in college at California State University, Northridge, she worked on a project for greeting cards for her business course. Giving a real-life sense to the project, she launched her own line of greeting cards featuring her own image on their covers. The greeting cards were so successful that agents came asking for her. Cindy soon started modeling and was seen in advertisements for companies such as Reebok, Vidal Sassoon, Coors, Hanes, and Sunkist. She was also seen on infomercials on late night television shows.
In 1995, Cindy's made her first major screen appearance on television as a Barker Beauty, a hostess on the game show The Price Is Right. She also appeared on the show Extra. When these two shows put up their website, she was also featured on their sites. In those early days of Internet, she became the Queen of Internet with her image being downloaded more than 58 million times.
Following her success on the Internet, Cindy was featured in a television segment on Extra and viewers could simultaneously see Cindy's posters. Cindy was so popular that viewers logged in every 10 seconds to see her. Subsequently, she also took part in live chats on Extra Online. She also hosted her own cyber show, Cindy's World in which viewers get a chance to interact with celebrity guests on the show and watch video clips of Cindy.
In 2000, Cindy made it to the 2000 Millennium Issue of The Guinness Book of World Records for being downloaded 70,000 times in a period of 24 hours.
Cindy has also gone beyond the cyber world. She made her film debut as the fem-bot in 1997 in the hit comedy Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
In 1998, Cindy acted as a tennis instructor in the film Chairman of the Board along with Carrot Top and Raquel Welch.
In 2000, Cindy started hosting a late night Saturday talk show called The Cindy Margolis Show. The show is filmed in Miami Beach and features the late night beach parties.
Cindy turned producer with her E! Entertainment series In Your Dreams with Cindy Margolis, for which she is also the hostess.
In 2006, Cindy made news when she decided to pose nude for Playboy at the age of 40. She had posed many times for Playboy, but had never bared all. At the age of 40 and not afraid of her mother any more, the sexy blonde wanted to inspire other women her age to be fit and sexy. Part of the proceeds from the sales went to a charity for fertility treatment. Cindy is also a spokesperson for Resolve, the national infertility association.
On the personal front, Cindy is married to restaurateur Guy Starkman. They have a son, Nicholas Isaac (born 2002) and twin daughters, Sabrina and Sierra (born 2005 via a surrogate mother). All her children are born through infertility procedures.
