Biography
Anna Faris is an American actress of Scottish, Irish, German, French, and English descent. She is best-known for her role as Cindy Campbell in the Scary Movie films.
Anna Kay Faris was born on November 29, 1976 in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in Edmonds, Washington, north of Seattle. Her father, Jack Faris is of Scottish and Irish descent and her mother, Karen is of German, English, and French descent.
Since the time Anna was very young, her parents encouraged her to take up acting. When she was just nine years old, she made her professional acting debut with a stage production of the Seattle Repertory Theater. She finished high school from Edmonds-Woodway High School.
In 1996, Anna made her film debut with a small role in Eden. After graduating from the University of Washington in 1999 with a degree in English Literature, Anna wanted to go to London, England to start working and writing.
However, after acting in the film Lovers Lane (1999), Anna rediscovered her passion for acting and the striking blonde instead headed for Hollywood. She did not wait long for her first break.
In 2000, Anna was cast as Cindy Campbell in the horror spoof Scary Movie. She apparently dyed her hair black to look like Neve Campbell. The film went on to do unexpectedly well at the box office, making more than $278 million worldwide and Anna became an international star overnight.
The commercial success of the film Scary Movie prompted the producers to make its sequels. In 2001, Anna played the same role of Cindy Campbell in its sequel Scary Movie 2.
Anna next appeared as Polly in the thriller May (2002) along with Angela Bettis. That year, she also played the role of April in the comedy The Hot Chick with Rob Schneider.
In 2003, Anna acted in Sofia Coppola's comedy Lost in Translation. She also reprised her role as Cindy Campbell in another sequel, Scary Movie 3 (2003).
In 2004, Anna's fine comedy skills got her a recurring role as Erica in the popular television series Friends. That year, in June, she also got married to actor Ben Indra, her boyfriend of five years. They had met on the sets of Lovers Lane in 1999.
In 2005, Anna worked in quite a few films including Waiting..., Just Friends, 3 & 3, and Southern Belles. Anna proved that she could do serious roles with her small role as Lashawn Malone in Brokeback Mountain.
In 2006, Anna continued playing Cindy Campbell in yet another sequel, Scary Movie 4 (2006). Apart from this, she acted with Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson in My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006). This blue-eyed blonde is finally getting to diversify her roles and be more than just a Scary Movie star.
