Biography
Heather Graham was born on January 29th, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is of Irish decent and was raised in an Irish Catholic household. Her father was an FBI agent and her mother a children's book author. When Graham was still young her family moved from Wisconsin to Springfield, Virginia, and she attended North Springfield Elementary School for a short time. The family later re-located and settled down in Conejo Valley, California where she attended Sumac Elementary School, Lindero Canyon Middle School and Agoura High School. She graduated from high school in 1988 and attended the University of California in Los Angeles. She became involved with actor James Woods after meeting him at UCLA. She subsequently left college to pursue her acting career.
Graham has acted in over forty-four movies and television series' including some guest spots on major networks. Her first role came in 1984 at the age of fourteen in Mrs. Soffel, at seventeen she appeared in Student Exchange and the following year in License to Drive and Twins. In 1989 she was to take the lead role in the cult classic film Heathers, but her parents forbade her from taking any parts that would include nudity. It is speculated that this cost her a role in the film that helped catapult Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty into the Hollywood and public spotlight. Despite losing a role in Heathers, Graham continued to act in both TV and film and appeared in the following movies, to name just a few: Diggstown, Six Degrees of Separation, Let It be Me, Terrified, Swingers, Boogie Nights, Scream II, Lost In Space, The Spy Who Shagged Me, Bowfinger, Say It Isn't So, The Guru, Anger Management, Emily's Reasons Why Not, Broken (2006), Bobby (2006), Grey Matters (2007) and 1/9 (2007). She has multiple projects in the fire for the coming years.
While she was raised in a strict Roman Catholic home she has often said that she does not agree with many of the teachings of the Catholic religion. She has practiced Transcendental Meditation since 1991. She also was estranged from her parents for many years and it is assumed that her parents frowned upon her lifestyle and, likewise, Graham did not agree with their opinions. The family has since reconciled.
On the personal front she has been involved with James Wood, as mentioned previously, and also has had romantic ties to musician Adam Ant and actor Heath Ledger.
