Videos more videos Biography Beverly D'Angleo was born on November 15, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio. She has been acting for many years. She started her career as an artist working in the animation department of Hanna-Barbera. She moved to Canada shortly after to pursue a singing career and worked with Ronnie Hawkins for many years in his rockabilly band. During this time she was discovered by Gower Champion and cast as Ophelia in the Canadian production of Rockabye Hamlet in 1975. The play was moved to Broadway in 1976 and had a short run there. She later had a small role in Annie Hall and The Sentinel, both in 1977, but she captured critical and audience attention for her role as the debutante gone hippie, Sheila, in the movie version of Hair. After this role she took a part as Patsy Cline in Coal Miner's Daughter in 1980. She sang all the songs for the film and soundtrack album which eventually ended up going to gold status. She won excellent reviews for this role and the critics were impressed with both her acting and singing abilities. She won high profile star status when she played Ellen Griswold in the National Lampoon Vacation series. The first of the series was released in 1983 and it was a huge box office hit. She and co-star Chevy Chase were well received for their comedic timing in the film. The pair made three sequels to the first film in 1985, 1989 and 1997 respectively. All did exceptionally well at the box office. She has had her share of flops as well, most notably in the films High Spirits and Man Trouble. Later she made a critics favorite called The Miracle in 1991 with then boyfriend Neil Jordan, an Irish director. She later switched to TV film roles and had successes with A Streetcar Named Desire, with Treat Williams and Ann Margret, Hands of a Stranger, and Menendez: A Killing in Beverly Hills. She returned to Broadway in 1994 opposite Ed Harris in Simpatico. She recorded eight songs for the soundtrack. She continues to sing in her jazz band Blue Martini with her brother Jeff D'Angelo. On the personal front, she married Lorenzo Salviati, and economics student, in 1981. Salviati was an Italian duke and a descendant of Lorenzo de Medici. The couple divorced in 1995. She later had relationships with Irish director Neil Jordan and Anton Furst, Anton committed suicide in 1991 after the couple broke up. She became involved with actor Al Pacino in 1997 and the couple had twins together in 2001. They broke up soon after the birth of the children and a long, drawn-out custody battle ensued.
