Biography
Brooke Burke is an American model of Jewish, Irish, French and Portuguese descent. She is best known for hosting the shows Wild On! (1999-2002) and Rock Star (From 2005).
Brooke Burke was born on September 8, 1971 in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Tucson, Arizona. Her father, George Burke is French and Irish and her mother, Donna is Portuguese and Irish. Her mother is Jewish and Brooke was also raised to be a Jewish. She has three older sisters and three younger brothers.
Brooke got her first break when she went to a modeling agency to accompany her friend. Instead, Brooke ended up being noticed for her stunning looks. She thus started modeling. She used to model while studying broadcast journalism studies at UCLA. She had gone to UCLA on an acting scholarship.
Brooke started appearing in the Frederick's of Hollywood catalogs. She went on to land contracts with modeling agencies like Ford, Wilhelmina, and Cunningham Escott Dipene. She then did many television commercials for products such as Bally Fitness clubs, Coca-Cola, Discover Card (as Derek Jeter's dream date), Anheuser-Busch and M Professional Cosmetics.
In 1999, Brooke got her big break when she landed a contract with E! Entertainment Television channel as host for its travel show Wild On!. A swimwear company Brooke used to work for recommended her to the channel. She first did a trial show in Spain and she perfectly suited their need for a natural, charming, and practical person, and landed a three-year contract.
The Wild On! show was a big hit and Brooke became a well-known figure across millions of homes. She went to many exotic locales across the world as part of her job. She even landed a stint as a spokesperson for the Norwegian Cruise Line.
In May 2001, Brooke appeared for the first time in the Playboy magazine that gave the due exposure to her size D breast implants.
After her contract for Wild On! ended, Brooke continued working for E! by hosting its popular countdown show, Rank. She also appeared on the television shows The Weakest Link and That's Life.
In 2003 and 2004, Brooke released her own calendars that featured her in bikinis. She also has a swimwear line called Barely Brooke.
In 2004, Brooke made guest appearances on the television shows Monk and Less Than Perfect. She also acted in the films The Hazing, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller, and Knuckle Sandwich.
In 2005, Brooke started hosting the CBS reality show Rock Star.
On the personal front, Brooke married plastic surgeon Garth Fisher in 2001. They have two daughters, Neriah (born March 2000) and Sierra Sky (born April 2002). However, in 2005, the couple separated. In 2006, she got engaged to French-born actor David Charvet.
