Biography Sugababes is a British girl band best known for its albums Angels With Dirty Faces (2002), Three (2003) and Taller in More Ways (2005) and for their songs Overload and Push the Button. Sugababes was born in 1998 when Keisha Buchanan (born 30 September, 1984), Mutya Buena (born 21 May, 1985), and Siobhan Donaghy (born 14 June, 1983) came together and decided to form a band. Keisha and Mutya met in school when they were 8 and became friends. The two met Siobhan at a party when they were 13. Through Siobhan, they met Ron Tom, their manager who unofficially called the band by the name Subababies, the nickname of Keisha and Mutya. They soon signed a contract with London Records and started calling themselves Sugababes. In 2000, Sugababes released their debut album, One Touch. It included the hits New Year, Run for Cover and Soul Sound as well as Overload, which was nominated for 2001 Brit Awards for Best British Single. However, Siobhan left the band stating initially that she wanted to pursue a fashion career. She later revealed that she left because she felt isolated in the band due to the friendship between Keisha and Mutya. She went on to release the album Revolution In Me with London Records. The album did not do well and London Records dropped her. Following Siobhan's exit from the band, London Records cancelled its contract with Sugababes. Keisha and Mutya didn't give up, though. They found a new replacement, Heidi India Range and signed with Island Records. Heidi was born on May 23, 1983 in Liverpool and had started her musical career with Atomic Kitten and left it in 1999. Soon in 2002, Sugababes released the hit song Freak Like Me which featured the introduction of Heidi. The song which was their first song in the album, Angels with Dirty Faces (2002) reached #1 in UK and #2 in Ireland. The second album included the hits Round Round, Stronger, and Angels With Dirty Faces. In 2003, Sugababes released their third album, Three. It included the hit singles Hole In The Head, Too Lost In You, In The Middle, and Caught In A Moment. In March 2005, while Sugababes were working on their fourth album, Mutya gave birth to a daughter, Tahlia. In October 2005, Sugababes released their fourth album, Taller In More Ways. It included the hit Push the Button which topped the UK, Ireland, Austria, and New Zealand singles charts. It was also nominated for the Best British Single at the 2005 Brit Awards. In December 2005, Mutya left the Sugababes so that she could focus on raising her baby. Amelle Berrabah who was born on April 22, 1984 became her replacement in late December and worked on the hit Red Dress from the album. In April 2006, Sugababes were selected "Best World Group" at the ESKA Music Awards in Poland.
