Cesária was born in Mindelo, Cape Verde on August 27, 1941. She's a popular singer, known for her practitioning of morna, a music and dance genre from Cape Verde. Her nickname is barefoot diva because she likes to perform without shoes.
Her albums include La Diva Aux Pieds Nus, Mar Azul, São Vicente di Longe, Voz d'Amor, and Rogamar.
