Biography
Jared Padalecki is an American actor of Polish heritage. He is best known for his roles as Dean Forester on the television series Gilmore Girls (2000-2005) and as Sam Winchester on Supernatural (From 2005).
Jared Tristan Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982 in San Antonio, Texas. His father, Gerald R. Padalecki is Polish and works as a tax accountant. His mother, Sharon L. Kammer Padalecki works as a teacher. He has two siblings: an older brother, Jeff and a younger sister, Megan.
When Jared was twelve years old, he started taking acting lessons. In 1999, he took part in Fox television's Claim to Fame Contest and won the contest. He next went on to appear at the Teen Choice Awards, where he met his manager.
In 1999, Jared made his film debut with a minor role as Matt Nelson in the film, A Little Inside.
In 2000, Jared was chosen to be a candidate for the 2000 Presidential Scholars Program by his school, James Madison High School in San Antonio. He planned to attend the University of Texas. However, after finishing high school, he shifted to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting.
It was in 2000 that Jared got his big break when he landed the role of Dean Forester on the television series Gilmore Girls. He played the role of Rory's on-again, off-again boyfriend and became a sex symbol. The series became very popular and with its popularity, he also gained star status. He played the role till 2005.
Meanwhile, Jared worked in several made-for-television films, including Silent Witness (2000), Close to Home (2001), A Ring of Endless Light (2002), and Young MacGyver (2003).
Jared also worked in several feature films. In 2003, he did an uncredited role as a bully in the comedy Cheaper by the Dozen.
In 2004, Jared did the role of Trey Lipton in the comedy New York Minute starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. That year, he also did the role of Davis in the thriller Flight of the Phoenix.
In 2005, Jared starred in the horror film House of Wax opposite Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, and Paris Hilton. That year, he also starred in another horror film, Cry Wolf opposite Sandra McCoy.
That year, Jared got another big break when he was cast as Sam Winchester on the sci-fi television series, Supernatural. With the success of the series, he got a bigger fan base. The series was renewed for a second season. He was voted People Magazine's Sexiest Ghostbusters along with his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles.
On the personal front, he started dating actress Sandra McCoy after they met on the sets of the film Cry Wolf.
