Biography
Catherine Ann Bosworth was born on January 2nd, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Her father was an account executive for Talbots and her mother was a stay at home mother. Due to her father's career the family moved quite frequently and Kate often says it was difficult being the new kid in school throughout her childhood. She did not make friends easily and was shy and isolated from her peers. Despite this fact she graduated Cohasset High School in Connecticut as a member of the National Honor Society and was active in soccer and lacrosse. She was also an excellent equestrian and won many ribbons and trophies for horse racing and jumping. She graduated from Cohasset in 2001.
She started in film with the critically acclaimed movie The Horse Whisperer, her ability at horse back riding and racing was what helped her win the role, as she had never acting professionally before. From this she went on to Remember the Titans in 2000 and then to Blue Crush in 2002. The well received surfer film was her first lead role and gave her greater exposure to nationwide audiences. After Blue Crush Bosworth followed with films such as Beyond the Sea, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!, Bee Season and Superman Returns, as Lois Lane.
On the personal front she has been linked romantically with Orlando Bloom. Some sources say that the couple met outside a coffee shop and then again at the movie premiere of The Lord of The Rings, other sources claim that they met on the set of a Gap Commercial, either way they were smitten with one another upon meeting and they started dating in 2002. Kate ended the relationship in 2005 but after only two months Orlando re-kindled their romance late in 2005 vowing to spend more time with her and less with his buddies.
Kate applied to and was accepted at the Ivy League Princeton University in Princeton New Jersey upon graduating from high school. However she has delayed enrollment due to acting and filming commitments. Her plans are to begin attendance at Princeton as soon as her schedule allows.
