Biography

Jessica Biel is an American actress. She is best known for playing the role of Mary Camden in the television series 7th Heaven. She has also acted in the films The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Summer Catch.

Jessica Claire Biel was born on March 3, 1982, in Ely, Minnesota. Her parents Jonathan Edward Biel and Kimberly shifted their family to Boulder, Colorado when she was very small. As a child, she loved singing, dancing, in-line skating, and mountain biking. When she was just nine years old, she starred in regional theater productions of Beauty and the Beast, The Invisible People, Annie, and The Sound of Music. She then went on to do modeling for two years for Limited Too. Jessica did her high school from the exclusive private Lycée Français de Los Angeles. In 2000, she joined the undergraduate program at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. However she left in 2002 to focus on her acting career.

In 1994, competed at the International Modeling and Talent Association's Los Angeles Convention and went on to win a scholarship to the Young Actors Space, an acting society in Los Angeles.

In 1996, Jessica got her big break when she landed the role of Mary Camden, one of seven siblings, in the long-running popular television series, 7th Heaven (1996 to 2001).

In 1997, Jessica made her film debut with a starring role in Ulee's Gold co-starring Peter Fonda. Her performance as a rebellious teen in the film was well received by critics at the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals.

In 1998, Jessica starred in I'll Be Home for Christmas opposite Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

In 2000, the hazel-eyed beauty appeared topless in Gear magazine. This created quite a controversy as she was underage being just 17 at that time. She took this step because she felt she had lost out on the role in American Beauty because of her innocent, goody image on 7th Heaven.

Following this changeover of her image, her film career then took off in full swing. In 2001, Jessica starred in Summer Catch opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. In 2002, she acted in Rules of Attraction followed by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Cellular (2004) along with Kim Basinger, and Blade: Trinity (2004) co-starring Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds.

In 2005, Jessica appeared in the film Stealth that was a flop. She also acted in London and Elizabethtown that year.

In 2006, Jessica bounced back with a terrific performance as a duchess in successful film The Illusionist (2006). In May 2006, after a gap of three years, she also appeared in the series finale of 7th Heaven.

On the personal front, Jessica has been linked to actor Chris Evans.
