Biography

Bow Wow is an American rap singer and actor. He is best known for his hit single Bounce With Me from the album Beware Of Dog.

Bow Wow's birth name is Shad Gregory Moss and he was born on March 9, 1987 in Reynoldsburg, Columbus, Ohio. His father left his mother when he was just a baby. His mother, Teresa then raised him along with his stepfather Rodney Caldwell. He has two stepsisters. As a child, he showed great interest in rap music and by the time he was 5, he started competing in local talent competitions using the name Kid Gangsta.

Bow Wow got his first break in 1993 when his performance was noticed by rappers Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at a Chronic tour in Columbus. They gave him the name Lil Bow Wow and hired him as an opening act on the Death Row Records roster.

In 1998, Bow Wow was introduced to music producer, Jermaine Dupri who then signed him for his label So So Def Recordings. Bow Wow then started working on his debut album along with Dupri and Brian Michael Cox. In 2000, when he was just 13 years old, he released his debut album Beware of Dog. It included the hit single, Bounce with Me as well as the follow-up hits Bow Wow (That's My Name) featuring Snoop Dogg and Ghetto Girls. The album was a super hit and was certified double platinum.

In 2002, Bow Wow released his second album Doggy Bag. It included the hits Thank You and Take Ya Home. Though the album did not do as well as the first one, it was a reasonable success and was certified gold. That year, he also made his film debut in Like Mike.

In 2003, Bow Wow joined Columbia Records and released his third album Unleashed without the help of his mentor Dupri. It included the hit Let's Get Down and was certified gold.

In 2004, Bow Wow starred in the film Johnson Family Vacation along with Cedric the Entertainer, Vanessa Williams, and Solange Knowles.

In 2005, Bow Wow went back to working with Dupri and released his next album, Wanted. It included two super hit songs Let Me Hold You featuring Omarion and Like You featuring Ciara (his then girl-friend) that reestablished his rap star status. That year, he also acted in the film Mr. Prez.

In 2006, Bow Wow released his fifth album The Price of Fame. It included the hit single Shortie Like Mine featuring Chris Brown. He also acted in the film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

On the personal front, Bow Wow broke up with his girlfriend Ciara in 2006 after a one-year relationship.
