Biography
Torrie Wilson is an American professional wrestler and fitness model. She is best known for her act on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and for her appearances in the Playboy magazine.
Torrie Anne Wilson was born on July 24, 1975 in Boise, Idaho. Her parents got divorced when she was very young and she shifted to McCall, Idaho when she was ten. She took part in various activities at school such as cheerleading, dance, and track and field.
While at high school, Torrie showed a keen interest in modeling and her mother encouraged her to pursue it. They went to an agency where Torrie was asked to lose some weight to make it as a model. She lost those extra pounds but ended up with a four-year struggle with bulimia, an eating disorder.
Torrie did get modeling offers in New York and London but declined them to stay close to home roots. She next competed in the Ms. Galaxy competition and finished third in her first attempt. In 1998, she finally won the Ms. Galaxy competition in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was soon seen on the covers of many magazines.
Torrie then shifted to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She even appeared on the popular television series Baywatch.
In 1999, Torrie made her debut in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) when she appeared as "Samantha", a valet for David Flair. She soon moved to managing Billy Kidman and his Filthy Animals teammates. Over the next two years, Torrie was paired with many wrestlers and appeared in some of the most popular WCW plots. In 2001, Torrie joined the WCW rival company World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Her first appearance on WWE was as part of The Alliance during the WCW/ECW Invasion storyline on SmackDown!.
At WWE, Torrie exploited her modeling looks by appearing in a string of Bra and Panties and Lingrie matches. She was constantly pitted against other popular WWE divas like Lita, Trish Stratus Stacy Keibler, and Ivory.
In April 2002, Torrie was drafted to SmackDown! when WWE roster was split into RAW and SmackDown!.
Torrie's popularity resulted in an offer from Playboy and she appeared on the May 2003 cover of Playboy magazine as well as in a pictorial inside the issue. She again posed nude with WWE diva Sable in the March 2004 issue of Playboy.
In August 2005, Torrie was traded to RAW. She was involved in a series of popular fights with Candice Mitchell, a WWE diva who had also appeared on a Playboy cover.
From an overweight aspiring model, today Torrie Wilson has become one of the most desirable women in the world with her determination and focus. She is still one of the most popular faces on RAW and looks good to grace many more magazine covers.
