Biography

Kristin Kreuk is a Canadian actress. She is best known for her television roles in the Canadian teen soap Edgemont and as Lana Lang, Superman's love interest in the American series Smallville.

Kristin Laura Kreuk was born on December 30, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Both her parents are landscape architects. Kristin has both Dutch and Chinese ancestry. Her father, Peter Kreuk, is of Dutch origin and her mother, Deanna Che is of Chinese origin.

Kristin went to Eric Hamber High School in Vancouver. She took gymnastics and acting classes but had never meant to pursue a career in showbiz. However, destiny had other plans for her when the casting director of Edgemont sent a fax to Vancouver schools for the casting of Laurel, a Chinese Canadian. Kristin's drama teacher encouraged her to audition for the role and Kristin got her first break in the year 2000.

At the end of the first season of Edgemont, Kristin hired an agent and got the lead role of Snow White in a television film Snow White: The Fairest of Them All released on ABC in 2002.

In 2001, Kristin landed a role in the American series Smallville, which focuses on teenage life of Clark Kent, the alter ego of Superman. Kristin played the role of Clark Kent's secret crush, Lana Lang, a vivacious and popular cheerleader. She received critical acclaim for her performance in the series and was nominated in the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards (2006) for Best Actress on Television.

Kristin made her film debut with a cameo role in the film Eurotrip (2004), starring Scott Mechlowicz and Michelle Trachtenberg. The film also had cameo appearances by Matt Damon and Lucy Lawless.

In 2004, Kristin landed the role of Tenar in the Sci Fi mini series Legend of Earthsea opposite Shawn Ashmore. The miniseries was co-produced by Lawrence Bender of Pulp Fiction fame and directed by Rob Lieberman.

Following in the footsteps of teen icons like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mandy Moore, Kristin became the spokesperson for Neutrogena products worldwide. In 2005, she got a renewal on her contract for two more years and became the longest-running spokesperson in Neutrogena's history.

In 2005, she landed a role in the feature film Partition (2006), a co-production between Canada, South Africa and the United Kingdom. She plays the role of a vulnerable 17-year-old Muslim girl falling in love with an ex-British Indian Army officer during the traumatic Partition of India in 1947. To make sure she was getting the correct perspective of her role, she actually went to a Mosque to learn about the women's views on love and honor. With such dedication and her drop-dead looks, she is worth looking out for.
