Biography

Charlotte Casiraghi is a socialite whose claim to fame are her royal blood and good looks. She is the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and is the fourth in line to the throne of Monaco in the Mediterranean. Her maternal grandmother is American actress Grace Kelly.

Charlotte Marie Pomeline Casiraghi was born on August 3, 1986 in Monte Carlo, Monaco at the Princess Grace Clinic. Her father, Stefano Casiraghi is an Italian industrialist and her mother is Princess Caroline of Monaco. She has been named after her maternal great-grandmother, Princess Charlotte of Monaco. She however does not hold any title as per her mother's request.

Charlotte has an older brother, Andrea, who is two years older than her, and a younger brother, Pierre, who is one year younger than her. Till she was four, Charlotte and her brothers grew up in Monaco, which was then ruled by Rainier III of Monaco, her maternal grandfather. When she was just four, her father died in a boat accident. Her mother then shifted the family to Midi village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in France far from the reach of the press.

When Charlotte was just five years old, she was given a small island off Sardinia by her paternal grandparents, Giancarlo and Fernanda Casiraghi. The island is worth millions.

In 1999, Charlotte's mother got married again to Ernst August V, Prince of Hanover. The same year, they had a daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hanover. Charlotte moved along with her family to the Parisian suburb of Fontainebleau. Charlotte took a keen interest in show jumping and took part in various Junior and Amateur class equestrian competitions. In 2004, she graduated from secondary school at Lycée 1er François, Fontainebleau with flying colors.

When she was 16, she was ranked tenth on a list of the world's Most Eligible young women. In 2005, her uncle Prince Albert took over the royal duties and she was the cynosure of the media at the Investiture ceremony. In 2006, she made it to Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List.

Since childhood, Charlotte and her brothers have been regularly attending occasions like Monaco National Day, the Monaco Grand Prix, Monaco's Rose Ball, which is an event held annually to raise funds for the Princess Grace Foundation. There are few other occasions that Charlotte would attend and the media would devour her rare social appearances. These events include fashion shows and art exhibits. Her other notable appearances include her 18th birthday at "La Vigie," her mother's luxurious villa on the French Riviera. She celebrated with champagne and fireworks with around 450 guests, including designers Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Louboutin. Karl Lagerfeld designed her unique birthday dress.
