Sarah Jessica Parker is an Emmy-winning American actress and producer. She is best-known for her role as relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO television series Sex and the City.

Sarah Jessica Parker was born on March 25, 1965 in Nelsonville, Ohio. Her parents got divorced when she was young and she grew up with her stepfather and her mother, Barbara who worked as a teacher. As a child, she took singing and ballet lessons and was cast in the Broadway production of The Innocents. Her family soon moved to New York. She next worked with four of her siblings in the stage production of The Sound of Music which led to her break playing the title role of Annie from 1979 to 1980 on Broadway.

In 1979, Sarah made her film debut with Rich Kids. Her first starring role came in 1982 in the critically acclaimed television series Square Pegs. The show was cancelled by the network after one season, but Sarah managed to impress critics with her performance.

In 1984, Sarah made it big with her role as Lori Singer's best friend and Chris Penn's girlfriend in the hit film Footloose. The next year, Sarah acted along with Helen Hunt in the hit Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Sarah then worked in numerous television shows, including the mini series A Year in the Life (1986) and the series Equal Justice.

(1996). Sarah won critical acclaim and star status with these roles.

However, it was in 1998 that Sarah got her biggest break when she landed the lead role in the HBO series Sex and the City. She played the role of sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the series that revolves around the sex lives of Sarah and her three close friends (played by Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis). The show went on to become a huge hit with both critics and audiences and Sarah won the Emmy in 2004 as well as the Golden Globe for her role in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004.
