Biography
Sharon Stone was born March 10, 1958. She is an actress, model, and producer. She is known for her outspoken style and quick wit. Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania to blue collar parents she is of Irish decent. With an IQ at the genius level, she started school in the second grade at the age of five when most kids are entering kindergarten. After being skipped another grade she was transferred from High School to a PA University. She was fifteen at the time. That's one smart actress! At age 18 she left PA to move in with an Aunt in New Jersey so that she might try her hand at modeling. She was signed with the Ford Modeling agency within four days of her move.
She modeled for several years and broke into acting via TV commercials. She had a cameo role in Stardust Memories in 1980. Many movies following including: Irreconcilable Differences, The Last Picture Show, and Above The Law. Her career lagged for some time due to a few bad movie choices in the late 1980's. She made a comeback with Total Recall in 1990 and posed nude for Playboy which also got her a lot of attention. Her most famous role was that of Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct in 1992. A nude crotch scene became the talk of Hollywood and sent people to the theater in droves. Her acting was pretty great in the film too. She co-stared with Michael Douglas. She went on to win a Golden Globe for her role in Casino and was nominated for best actress by the Academy. Two of her last films flopped at the box-office, Catwoman and Basic Instinct 2.
Sharon is an outspoken feminist and has been applauded by the lesbian community for her strong stance on Gay rights. In 2005 she adopted a baby boy whom she named Laird Vonne Stone. She married producer Michel Greenburg in 1984 and subsequently divorced him in 1990. She later married Phil Bronstein in 1998 and divorced in 2004. The couple adopted a son together named Roan.
