Videos more videos Biography Natalie Gulbis is an American professional golfer of Latvian descent. She is best known for her calendars and being a sex symbol on the LPGA circuit. Natalie Anne Gulbis was born on January 7, 1983, in Sacramento, California. Her father, John used to work for the Sacramento County Probation Department. Her mother, Barbara acts as purchasing director for a medical laboratory in Sacramento. When Natalie was just four years old, her father started teaching her to play golf. She was soon hooked to the sport. Her first tournament win came when she was just seven years old and by the age of 10, she was already breaking par. In 1996, Natalie took the second place in the California State Women's Amateur tournament. However, in 1997, she bounced back to win the same tournament. She also qualified for the Long Drugs Challenge, becoming the youngest player ever to qualify for an LPGA event. She held this record till 2002 when Michelle Wie achieved the same feat at the age of 12. At Granite Bay High School where Natalie studied, she proved to be an all rounder. She was on the boys' golf team and also took part in gymnastics and diving. To top it all, she was excellent in academics and graduated early at the age of 16. In 1999, based her high school scores, Natalie won a scholarship to Arizona State University. In her freshman year, Natalie won three tournaments. In the summer of 2000, Natalie qualified for the US Women's Open and was ranked 34th among amateurs. In the fall of 2000, she became pro and got a place on the LPGA tour in the first attempt. In 2002, Natalie took the fifth place at the ShopRite LPGA Classic and finished fourth at the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic. She rose to the second place in the Rookie of the Year points standings. In 2003, Natalie took the 12th place at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship. At Welch's/Fry's Championship, she fared dismally and scored a career-low 63 in the third round. In 2004, Natalie made it to the Top 15 in five tournaments and in the final round of the Safeway Classic, carded her first LPGA career hole in one. In 2004, just before the U.S. Women's Open, Natalie released her calendar that featured her playing golf and posing in swimsuits. The United States Golf Association (USGA) banned its sale at its event, deeming it too provocative. However, it was a great hit at Golf Canada. In 2005, Natalie released another calendar. In November that year, a reality television show, The Natalie Gulbis Show, was aired on The Golf Channel. In 2005, Natalie was ranked sixth on the LPGA money list with earnings over $1 million. Her endorsement deals with Taylor Made Golf, Adidas, Canon, Amstel Light, and Lake Las Vegas Resort contributed to it. It remains to be seen if she will be able to make this list with her earnings from tournament wins.
