Videos more videos Biography Jesse McCartney is an American actor and pop singer. He is best known for his role in the television series Summerland as well as for his album, Beautiful Soul. Jesse A. McCartney was born on April 9, 1987 in New York City to Ginger and Scot McCartney. He has a younger sister, Lea Joyce McCartney and a younger brother, Timothy Glover Mark McCartney. As a child, Jesse showed a keen interest in music and acting. By the time he was seven years old, he was performing in local community musicals. When he was 10, he joined the National Tour of The King and I. He also appeared in the play A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden. He next joined the kid band Sugar Beats as a vocalist. In 1998, Jesse made his television debut as J.R. Chandler on the soap opera All My Children. He played the role till 2001 and won the nomination for a Daytime Emmy as an Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in both 2001 and 2002. In 2000, Jesse joined the boy band, Dream Street. After releasing their debut album that was certified gold, the band split in 2002 after touring with Aaron Carter and Britney Spears. In 2003, Jesse released his first solo EP, J Mac. It featured the songs Beautiful Soul, Don't You, and Why Don't You Kiss Her. In 2004, Jesse performed the duet, Don't Go Breaking My Heart, with Anne Hathaway. The song is featured on the Ella Enchanted soundtrack. The year 2004 brought Jesse fame from both the musical and acting aspects of his career. He started playing the role of Bradin Westerly in the television series Summerland. He became highly popular with the role. To add to his popularity, Jesse also released his debut solo album Beautiful Soul that year. It included four songs co-written by him. The song Beautiful Soul reached No. 2 on AOL Music and its video was also a great hit with viewers on MTV. The album sold over 1.5 million records and was certified platinum. In 2005, Jesse made his film debut with a role in the film Pizza. In 2006, Jesse released his second album, Right Where You Want Me. It included the song Right Where You Want Me written by Jesse McCartney, Adam Watts and Andy Dodd. Jesse co-wrote all the songs in the album. That year, Jesse also acted in the film Keith. On the personal front, Jesse became romantically involved with Katie Cassidy. They first met when they were just 15. Jesse was then touring with his band Dream Street and Katie came backstage with her manager. They then became great friends and started dating.
