Biography
Eva Longoria is an American actress of Mexican origin. She is best known for her role as the sexy Gabrielle Solis on the popular television series Desperate Housewives.
Eva Jacqueline Longoria was born on March 15, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Enrique Longoria Jr. and Ella Eva Mireles. Eva has three older sisters and as a child was always considered the ugly duckling of her family because of her dark skin, eyes, and hair. She proved everyone wrong when she became Miss Corpus Christie in 1998. At the contest, a theatrical agent signed her.
Eva next shifted to Los Angeles. She soon landed a role in the play What the Rabbi Saw. In 2000, she made her television debut with a guest appearance on Beverly Hills, 90210.
In 2001, Eva got her first big break when she landed the role of Isabella Brana Williams on the popular television soap The Young and the Restless. She was awarded American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama for her role, which lasted for two years.
In 2003, Eva made her film debut with a starring role in the film Snitch'd. The film was a flop but Eva bounced back with a live television show, Hot Tamales Live: Spicy, Hot and Hilarious. The show co-produced by her was a huge hit and is also aired on pay-per-view basis. That year, she also appeared as Detective Gloria Duran in the short-lived series L.A. Dragnet.
In 2004, Eva got the big break that made her a star when she landed the role of Gabrielle Solis on the television series Desperate Housewives. The series starring Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, and Nicollette Sheridan is about the scandalous lives of a group of sexy women in the suburbs and became an instant hit.
In 2004, Eva starred as a psychic in the television film, The Dead Will Tell. She also starred in the film, Carlita's Secret. Both were received poorly.
In 2005, Eva along with her co-stars received a nomination for Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for her role in Desperate Housewives. However, she was not nominated at the Emmies although her co-stars were nominated.
In 2006, Eva starred in the thriller The Sentinel opposite Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland. She also played the role of Sylvia in the film Harsh Times opposite Freddy Rodriguez and Christian Bale.
On the personal front, Eva married television actor Tyler Christopher in 2002. However, their marriage ended in 2004. Eva has been linked to SAG president Edward W V Stephens, writer Milan Gracanin, NSYNC star JC Chasez, and actor Mousir Syed. In November 2006, Eva became engaged to basketball star Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs.
