Jamie Lynn Spears is an American actress, better known as the younger sister of the pop sensation Britney Spears.
Jamie Lynn Marie Spears was born on April 4, 1991 in McComb, Mississippi . She relocated with her family to Kentwood, Louisiana, with her parents, older brother Bryan, and sister Britney. Her parents worked hard to run the house before Britney became a star. Her father, Jamie Spears worked as a building contractor and her mother, Lynne taught in a school.
Britney had become a star by the time Jamie Lynn was nine years old and was a big influence on her life and what she wanted to do. Jamie Lynn also basked in the limelight along with her sister. She appeared in 2000 with Britney on television shows such as Youtopia Shopping Spree and Total Access 24/7.
Jamie Lynn not only looked like her sister but could sing too. In 2000, she recorded with Aaron Carter in an unreleased Christmas song.
Jamie Lynn got her first break in 2001 when she did her first commercial for Clorox with her friends Crystal and Leigh. She got the commercial on her own through an audition. Her friends were also selected because the director liked the chemistry among them. Other commercials she modeled for include Pepsi television commercial in 2002. In 2001, Jamie Lynn was seen on the television show Total Britney Live.
Jamie Lynn made her film debut along with her sister in 2002 with the hit film, Crossroads. She plays the role of young Lucy, whose older version is played by Britney. She was perfect for the role as she looked very much like her sister.
Jamie Lynn got her big break in 2002 when she was cast in the hit television series on Nickelodeon channel, All That. As part of this show, Jamie Lynn acted in the skits, Trashion Fashion, Rate the Pain, and Thelma Stump. She also took part in On-Air Dare, a show based on Fear Factor and had to perform disgusting acts such as drinking human sweat and staying in a tub filled with 10,000 raw eggs. In 2003, at the Nick Kids Choice Awards, All That received the nomination for Best TV Show.
In 2003, Jamie Lynn tried to develop her singing career through a remake of the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with the band Triple Image. The song was a great hit and reached the number one spot on the Disney Top 40 countdown.
Jamie Lynn worked on All That for two years till she starred in another Nickelodeon series, Zoey 101. In this series, Jamie Lynn got the chance to sing its theme song, Follow Me. In 2005, Zoey 101 received the nomination for an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. In 2006, Jamie Lynn was the winner of Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Female TV Star and Favorite TV Female Actress. The little sister has grown into a young star.
