Anneliese van der Pol
Biography Anneliese van der Pol is an American actress of Dutch origin and Jewish heritage. She is best known for her role as Chelsea Daniels in the comedy series, That's So Raven on the Disney Channel. She is also known by the nicknames Annie and Lieske. Anneliese Louise van der Pol was born on September 23, 1984 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. Her father, Wim van der Pol is Dutch and her mother, Dyan Ross is an American from Brooklyn, New York. Her mother named her after Anne Frank. She is the youngest in the family and has two older sisters, Rachel and Sarah. When she was three years old, her family moved to the United States. As a child, Van der pol showed great interest in music and theatre. She started acting at a young age-when she was in the third grade, she played the role of Lana the Ladybug in a school musical. She pursued her interest in music and theater and graduated from the Musical Theater Program of The Orange County (CA) High School of the Arts. In 1999, when she was just 15 years old, Van der Pol played the role of Eva Peron in the Buena Park Civic Theatre production of Evita. She was noticed for being the youngest actress to play the role in a professional production and also for her impressive performance. She won rave reviews from the Los Angeles Times. In 2000, Van der Pol starred as Laurey in Oklahoma, a Austin Musical Theater production. Yet again, she gave a stellar performance, for which she got the Austin Critics Table award nominations for "Best Actress in a Musical". She worked in Oklahoma for a year. In 2002, Van der Pol got her big break when she was cast in the Disney Channel series That's So Raven (From 2002). She plays the role of Chelsea Daniels, Raven's best friend in the series for more than three years. In 2002, she also worked in the film Divorce: The Musical. Van der Pol plays the role of the daughter of the couple who are going through a divorce. Her name in the film is coincidentally Chelsea, but the last name of the character is Weber instead of Daniels in That's So Raven. Besides acting, Van der Pol is also trained in singing. She is a soprano with a vocal range of 3 and half octaves. She is trained in the belting vocal technique. In 2004, she recorded the single Over It for the Disney Channel Original Movie, Stuck in the Suburbs. Her second solo recording is A Day in the Sun for the album That's So Raven Too!. She has also been associated with the song Circle of Life for The Lion King: Special Edition DVD and A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes for the Cinderella: Special Edition DVD and several other Disney music projects.
