Videos more videos      Biography Rachel Bilson is an American actress of Italian and Jewish descent. She is best known for her role as Summer Roberts on the prime time hit television series The O.C. Rachel Sarah Bilson was born on August 25, 1981 in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Danny Bilson is Jewish and is a writer, director, and producer. Her mother, Janice Stango is Italian. Rachel's family is into show business. Her great-grandfather, George Bilson, acted as the head of the trailer department at RKO Pictures, her great-grandmother, Hattie, worked as a screenwriter, and her grandfather, Bruce Bilson, is a film director. Her parents got divorced during her childhood. Her father remarried Heather Medway, an actress in 1997. Rachel showed a keen interest in acting and when she was just seven years old, her parents helped her in getting her first role. She made her film debut in the film, The Wrong Guys starring comedian Louie Anderson. She studied at Walter Reed Middle School (graduating in 1996) and finished high school from Notre Dame High School in 1999. While at Notre Dame, Rachel was cast in a small role in the mini series, Human Target. She also acted in stage productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Once Upon a Mattress, and The Crucible. After finishing school, Rachel attended college for a year in San Diego. However, she quit her studies on her father's advice to focus on her acting career. She then hired an agent and started appearing in commercials for Raisin Bran and Pepto-Bismol as well as landed the starring part in a television commercial for Subway. In 2003, Rachel made her television debut with a role in an episode of the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She followed this up with an appearance in the series 8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter. She also made her film debut that year with the lead role in the short film Unbroken. Rachel soon got her big break when she was cast as Summer Roberts on the series The O.C. She played the role of the best friend of Marissa Cooper (played by Mischa Barton). Rachel impressed viewers and producers so much that she became a regular on the series. For her role in the series, she won three awards at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, "Choice Hottie Female", "Choice TV Actress (Drama)" and "Best Onscreen TV Chemistry" which she won with her co-star, Adam Brody. She also had an off-screen relationship with Brody. Following her popularity on television, Rachel has also been featured in magazines such as Zink, Stuff, CosmoGirl, and YM. In 2005, she was ranked sixth in Maxim magazine's annual "Hot 100 List". In 2006, Rachel made her feature film debut with the film The Last Kiss, opposite Zach Braff and Jacinda Barrett.
