Berth
Berth, a CD/DVD package, serves as a souvenir for fans of the Used eagerly awaiting the Utah-based band's next studio effort. The CD offers live renditions of longtime favorites ("I Caught Fire," "Maybe Memories") but there's nothing particularly revelatory or ultra-inspired in those renditions??it's mostly typical stopgap live record fare that's always energetic but offers little more than a basic run-through of established hits. The visual companion, on the other hand, features segments of backstage and in-the-studio shenanigans that should satisfy fans eager to gain insight into their favorite band, plus concert footage that serves to remind us all that the Used at least remains a visually--if not always musically--exciting act. ??Jedd Beaudoin
