Lata Mangeshkar
Lata mangeshkar was known as the 'nightingale of india'. She is part of the singing dynasty of sisters which included hridayanath mangeshkar, asha boshle and usha mangeshkar. Their father, who was an actor and singer, gave them singing lessons but forbad them to listen to hindi film music! She recorded her first song in 1942, aged 13. Nowadays she is perhaps the most famous singer in india and the most respected indian singer in the world. She has received many awards locally and internationally and is still recording and performing. This album pays tribute to one of the most beautiful voices, not just of bollywood, but also of india.
