Unfortunately, only a fragment and a very primitive recording (sound in the climax is distorted) but nevertheless a remarkable document: Bartók playing Chopin! Notice the slow tempo and beautiful rubato. Nocturne opus 27 no. 1 in C# minor, recorded in 1939. The drawing is of the Comtesse Apponyi, to whom this piece was dedicated, by the French artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, 1823. ...
