The fourth set of highlights from the excellent TV adaptation of "The Rainbow" (BBC, 1988) comprises more segments from episode 2, "The Widening Circle", leading to that episode's conclusion. Not the complete episode in sequence, but most of it: I offer here the footage I do have of it spliced together. The sequencing is preserved. Starring the exquisite Imogen Stubbs, this beautiful adaptation of "The Rainbow" captures the spirit of the novel very well, some say much better than does the Ken Russell version, a film that was not really well received and which was released at around the same time. (But to each his own.) Please pardon sound quality. This was videotaped many years ago. I do not have a DVD copy or VHS copy of "The Rainbow" in its entirety, just a collection of most of the scenes--perhaps 90%. I will post what I can. In the meantime, if anyone out there knows where we can find this excellent series in its entirety on DVD, please feel free to post the purchasing info for us. Some of us Youtubers are interested. Some of us have looked far and wide. Cheers. Enjoy. Ursula is a force of nature: fiercely sensitive, courageous and tender. Imogen Stubbs offers a profoundly moving performance...Quote from this segment: "I knew if I was to be strong, I had to remake myself." (Ursula Brangwen)More highlights to follow. Nine highlights segments total.
