Anna Maria Louisa Italiano, aka Anne Bancroft, was born in Bronx, New York to Italian-American parents. In 1963 Anne Bancroft won Best Actress Oscar for "The Miracle Worker" by playing the teacher of Helen Keller who was blind and deaf. Her stature as one of Hollywood's preeminent actresses was solidified when she perfected the role of Mrs. Robinson -- every young man's dream sex ed teacher -- in "The Graduate".
