(Rod Steiger), an unscrupulous politician who had been involved with the mother of Lara, and married Strelnikoff Pasha (Tom Courtenay), who becomes a vengeful revolutionary. The story is narrated in flashback by Yevgraf of Zhivago (Alec Guinness), the half-brother of Yuri seeking his niece, who was the daughter of Jivago with Lara.
