 | Chaka Khan - I'm Every Woman Profile: Born 23rd March 1953, Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois, USA, Chaka Khan was raised on Chicago's South Side, and at the age of 11 formed her first group, the Crystalettes. While still in high school, she joined the Afro-Arts Theater, a group which toured with Motown great Mary Wells; a few years later, she adopted the African name Chaka Khan while working on the Black Panthers' breakfast program. After quitting high school in 1969, Khan joined the group Lyfe, soon exiting to join another dance band, the Babysitters; neither was on the fast track to success, but her fortunes changed when she teamed with ex-American Breed member Kevin Murphy and Andre Fisher to form Rufus. Debuting in 1973 with a self-titled effort on the ABC label, Rufus was among the preeminent funk groups of the decade; distinguished by Khan's dynamic vocals, the group earned half a dozen gold or platinum albums before she went solo in 1978. Chaka began her solo career with the hit, "Im Every Woman," a tune written especially for her by the songwriting team of Ashford & Simpson. The difference? Evancho is just ten years old. Evancho took the stage on August 10, 2010. Her performance of "O mio babbino caro" by Puccini brought down the house - she got a standing ovation from the audience, and from judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel. Morgan said "That is one of the most extraordinary performances" he's ever seen on ''America's Got Talent.'' Morgan also predicted that "America is going to be going crazy for a little girl that sang like an angel." In a clip that aired on ''America's Got Talent'' just before her performance, Jackie Evancho said she began singing when she was eight years old. She says she became inspired after seeing ''Phantom of the Opera.'' She said appearing on ''America's Got Talent'' is "The biggest thing that's ever happened to me." Evancho won an appearance on ''America's Got Talent'' after submitting an audition video on YouTube. She garnered the most votes of any of the 20000 submissions.  | Sufjan Stevens - Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland This is my video for Sufjan Stevens song "Concerning The UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois" (the first track on his wonderful "Come On! Feel The Illinoise!" album). The video is primarily shot with a Fisher Price PXL 2000 Pixel-vision (a toy camera made in the '80s). This early digital format helped me achieve the ghostly grainy images. Besides shooting "live" footage with the PXL I also transfered "real" UFO footage to the camera. The sharper images are transfered stop-motion images taken by NASA on the planet Mars.
