The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family's land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries. A widower who tried to deal with the loss of his wife by writing a book about it ends up becoming both a best-selling author and a self-help guru.
