Hans Liberg
HANS LIBERG has received many international awards, the highest being an Emmy Award in New York in 1997 for "Liberg zaps himself", produced by Ivo Niehe for Tros Television. In the same year he was also nominated for the Banff Television Festival in Canada and he received an honourable mention at the Golden Rose Festival in Montreux. In 1998 he hosted the Emmy Award Gala in New York, instead of Sir Peter Ustinov! Today his fame reaches far beyond the Dutch borders, attracting full houses all over Europe. Being the only comedien in their classical music programme, he even performed in the big hall of The Musikverrein in Vienna. The international character of his shows, his musical virtuosity, and his subtle humour make him a highly sought-after artist at large international galas. For example, in 2003 he performed at the farewell gala for the late Dr. Wim Duijsenberg as President of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, and in 2005 for Her Majesty the Queen, in honour of her birthday and 25th jubilee.
The Assassination of Indira Gandhi
Indira Gandhi had numerous bodyguards, two of whom were Satwant Singh and Beant Singh, both Sikhs. On 31 October 1984 they assassinated Indira Gandhi with their service weapons in the garden of the Prime Minister's Residence at No. 1, Safdarjung Road in New Delhi. As she was walking to be interviewed by the British actor Peter Ustinov filming a documentary for Irish television, she passed a wicket gate, guarded by Satwant and Beant. According to information available immediately following the incident, Beant Singh shot her thrice using his side-arm and Satwant Singh fired twenty-two rounds into her using a Sten submachine gun. Beant Singh was shot dead and Satwant Singh was shot and arrested by her other bodyguards. Gandhi died on her way to the hospital, in her official car, but she was not declared dead until many hours later. She was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors operated on her. Official accounts at the time stated as many as 29 entry and exit wounds and some reports stated 31 bullets were extracted from her body. She was cremated on 3 November, near Raj Ghat and the place was called Shakti Sthal. After her death, sectarian unrest created by congress politicians loyal to Indira Gandhi engulfed New Delhi and several other cities in India, including Kanpur, Asansol and Indore, leading to the death of thousands of Sikhs.

Chaplin - late life honours & honorary Oscar
Twenty years after his humiliating eviction from the United States, Chaplin is awarded an honorary Oscar. The film industry may have felt remorse for what had happened, but not the government it seems: in this video we learn that Chaplin was in fact granted a special 10-day visa... Chaplin's daughter Geraldine discusses her father's acceptance of the honorary Oscar. This video also features very funny recollections by Chaplin's "swiss" neighbour Peter Ustinov. From "Charlie Chaplin - The Forgotten Years".
The Muppet Show: Kermit - "Bein' Green"

Hercule Poirot: Murder in the Mews (1989)
Time for another detective: dandyesque Monsieur Hercule Poirot, the famous Belgian detective. An invention by Agatha Christie and played by illustrious actors like Charles Laughton (on stage), Tony Randall, Ian Holm, Peter Ustinov or Albert Finney, he was perfectly brought to life by David Suchet (who once had played Inspector Japp to Ustinov's Poirot). The series started in 1989 and is still running, with Suchet probably being able to do every Poirot story ever written by Christie. In this scene - which also has Hugh Fraser as Poirot's sidekick Captain Hastings, Pauline Moran as his secretary Miss Lemon and Philip Jackson as a marvellous Inspector Japp - Poirot's little grey cells face an unsolvable problem - regarding his collars.
