Actualmente, es el número 2 del mundo en el ranking ATP. Biografía Rafael "Rafa" Nadal es un tenista profesional nacido en Manacor el 3 de junio de 1986. Es sobrino del que fuera futbolista del FC Barcelona y del Real Mallorca, Miguel Ángel Nadal. De pequeño practicaba todo tipo de deportes (fútbol, basket, etc...) pero fue el tenis, deporte al que se dedica desde los 4 años, el que puso de manifiesto su enorme clase y técnica. Su primera competición oficial fue en Baleares, con 8 años, y ganó. Como tambien ganó torneos en todas las categorías inferiores (quizás el mas reseñable el Petit Ases francés, el campeonato mundial junior por excelencia). Tras una etapa plagada de exitos a nivel mundial ya nivel nacional (ganó los torneos challengers de Barletta y Nápoles) comenzó su andadura en el circuito mundial ATP, no sin antes dejar su huella en torneos Junior, como su plaza de semifinalista en 2002 en Wimbledon jugando con chicos dos años mayores que él. Ya en el circuito profesional, dió sus primeros campanazos al derrotar, por ejemplo, a dos Top-10 como Albert Costa (en el TMS de Montecarlo) ya su amigo y mentor, Carlos Moyá, en el TMS de Hamburgo.
