Monet With Beethovens Symphony No. 7
The beautiful works of Monet With Beethovens Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92 Allegretto. Claude Monet (French pronounced [klod m?n?]) also known as Oscar-Claude Monet or Claude Oscar Monet (November 14, 1840 -- December 5, 1926)[1] was a founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting.[2] The term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting Impression, Sunrise. Monet was born on November 14, 1840 on the fifth floor of 45 rue Laffitte, in the ninth arrondissement of Paris.[3] He was the second son of Claude-Adolphe and Louise-Justine Aubrée Monet, both of them second-generation Parisians. On May 20, 1841, he was baptized in the local parish church, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette as Oscar-Claude. [3] In 1845, his family moved to Le Havre in Normandy. His father wanted him to go into the family grocery store business, but Claude Monet wanted to become an artist. His mother was a singer. On the first of April 1851, Monet entered the Le Havre secondary school of the arts. He first became known locally for his charcoal caricatures, which he would sell for ten to twenty francs. Monet also undertook his first drawing lessons from Jacques-François Ochard, a former student of Jacques-Louis David. On the beaches of Normandy in about 1856/1857 he met fellow artist Eugène Boudin who became his mentor and ...

La ejecución del Emperador Maximiliano - The execution of Emperor Maximilian of Mexico
www.artehistoria.com La ejecución del Emperador Maximiliano The execution of Emperor Maximilian of Mexico. "Woman Resting" by Clive James (poetry reading)
It poses and attempts to answer the question, "What is Art?", by considering this one example, painted in about 1887. The answer may be, "It can't be defined, but there are certain qualities that we recognise when we see them." However that's never been true in the past. Art is whatever is the consensus of critics at any given time say that it is. What was once considered to be Art is now out-of-favour. What the public likes the most, the critic despises the most. It seems that popularity has nothing to do with Art, and that only a particular kind of person who has studied the subject can recognise it. There's some quotation about a painter seeing a dog displaying infinite grace in raising a hind leg. I must look it up and attribute the quotation to sound more authorative. Then there's the Art critic who said, "I know all about Art but I don't know what I like." Yes, I know what I said, don't tell me it's the wrong way round. Who wouldn't choose Mancini's woman over Manet's Olympia, if beauty were the sole criterion? Art is like Science in that it is depends on work that has been done before. There is some primitive art - Rousseau comes to mind - but most art is the output of a sophisticated skill that has been learned by studying other artists. Learning and copying isn't enough though, it is technical innovation that is the hallmark of genius. Antonio Mancini (1852-1930) was an Italian painter www.barnsiteartstudio.com "Olympia", about 1865, and "Boat, Argenteuill ...
