Pierrot / Pierrette
Blanche as Pierrot and Pierrette, the tragic lovers who could never really come together as a couple ... The legend of Pierrot and Pierrette began in the 17th century when Jean-Antoine Watteau committed to canvas two clowns who were later made famous by the Italian Commedia Dell'Arte ... This timeless couple was then adapted to French pantomime where Pierrot is a noble and fun-loving clown ... He is lonely and in love with the beautiful Pierrette, whose affections run hot and cold ... I consider this rendition a very lyrical striptease of the very theme ... Mind you, Pierrette on pints! ... Inside tidbit: Helen Vita could actually not believe that it is all danced by the same person ... This performance was part of the 1986 Chez Nous tour ... Recorded at the Bernhard Theater in Zurich, Switzerland ... Enjoy and do not forget to have a look at my other uploads! ... Cheers, Julia

He is credited with inventing the genre of fêtes galantes: scenes of bucolic and idyllic charm, suffused with an air of theatricality. Some of his best known subjects were drawn from the world of Italian comedy and ballet.
