 | Huge buck! The one-time Iowa state archery record The buck in this video is featured in the painting "Big Timber Bucks" by Larry Zach. See www.zachwildlifeart.com for more on this painting. This video is composed of clips from video footage shot by Larry of his trophy deer and inspiration for the print "Big Timber Bucks." The video shows the buck during the fall of 1999 and during the summer of 2000 before it was harvested. Take care to notice the extreme increase in antler size during that one year. The first print in Zach's Big Buck Series, Big City Bucks (see video of this buck on YouTube also), featured deer living in Des Moines, Iowa. This painting was followed by the second in the series, Big Timber Bucks. This print features three bucks that lived in a more typical setting ? the heavy timber of southeast Iowa. Larry and his two children were lucky enough to harvest all three bucks with within a couple miles of each other during the hunting seasons of 1999 and 2000. On November 5, 1999, Larry and his 17 year-old son, Chris were in a shingle oak overlooking a secluded clover patch on their southeast Iowa farm. That morning, Chris filled his antlerless tag with a mature doe. Evening found them in the same tree, Larry with video camera, Chris with bow and arrow and a statewide archery tag to fill. Another doe came in to feed, this time followed by a mature, 5½ year-old buck! Slowly the pair fed into the clover patch and into a shooting lane.  | Elephant hunting with an Excalibur crossbow! In April of 2006 history was made when what is believed to be the very first Elephant to be killed with a crossbow in modern times was harvested in Zimbabwe on the eastern shores of Lake Kariba. Bill Troubridge, president of Excalibur Crossbow, took the mature bull Elephant with one arrow on the ninth day of a grueling hunt with PH Carl Mason of African Trails in the Omay tribal region of Zimbabwe. This area is home to one of the largest concentrations of Elephant in Southern Africa, and damage to the vegetation and local crops encourages herd reduction there through sport hunting. "Initially this hunt started out as a quest to demonstrate the effectiveness of our recurve limb crossbows" said Mr. Troubridge, "but it truly ended as a life altering experience". Over a hundred natives from nearby fishing village shared the bounty provided by almost 4000 pounds of boned meat from the downed bull. |

The main danger that crocodiles pose is not their ability to run after a person but their ability to strike before the person can react. The Saltwater and Nile Crocodiles are the most dangerous, killing hundreds of people each year in parts of south-east Asia and Africa. Mugger crocodiles and possibly the endangered Black Caiman, are also very dangerous to humans. American alligators are less aggressive and rarely assault humans without provocation. The most deaths in a single crocodile attack incident may have occurred during the Battle of Ramree Island, on February 19, 1945, in Burma. Nine hundred soldiers of an Imperial Japanese Army unit, in an attempt to retreat from the Royal Navy and rejoin a larger battalion of the Japanese infantry, crossed through ten miles of mangrove swamps which contained Saltwater Crocodiles. Twenty Japanese soldiers were captured alive by the British, and almost five hundred are known to have escaped Ramree. Many of the remainder may have been eaten by the crocodiles, although gunfire from the British troops was undoubtedly a contributory factor.  | Seasons- New Mountain Bike Film teaser from the Collective www.x-tremevideo.com Seasons is a film that follows seven of the world's top mountain bikers through the course of four seasons of one year. The film explores what it means to be a full time rider as told through the lives of downhill racers, slopestyle competitors, and big mountain freeriders. The main riders in the film are: Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Cam McCaul, Steve Peat, Andrew Shandro, Steve Smith, and Thomas Vanderham. There will also be some guest appearances by others who cross paths with the main seven riders. The Collective has been working on Seasons non-stop for the last twelve months, and is now in post production on the film, cutting together footage from multiple shoots with every rider, ranging from slopestyle competitions to World Cup downhill races, to epic backcountry freeride shoots. "The film has been a ton of work for everyone involved," says Jamie Houssian of The Collective, "so it's nice to finally see it come together in the studio. It's a new type of film for the action sports genre. We're stoked to show people something a little different".
