Intro - Josie and the Pussycats
Hitting on the heels of "Scooby Doo," a Saturday-morning cartoon started running featuring an all-girl group consisting of Josie (vocals/lead guitar), Valerie (vocals/tambourines) and Melody (percussion) who got into strange and wonderful adventures every week. Also included in the cast was their cowardly manager (Alexander), his evil twin sister (Alexandra) and roadie (Alan) who was clearly meant for Josie until Alexandra tried worming her way into the affair. Of note is the fact that this cartoon was the first time an African-American was a featured star in an ensemble cartoon. Also, for you trivia buffs - the role of the drummer Melody was voiced by Cheryl Ladd, who later achieved bigger fame as "Kris Munroe" on "Charlie's Angels." For real!
I'll Never Love This Way Again - Dionne Warwick
"I'll Never Love This Way Again" is a 1979 hit recorded by American soul singer Dionne Warwick. The song was composed by Richard Kerr (music) and Will Jennings (lyrics) and produced by Arista labelmate Barry Manilow. The song was Warwick's first single release on Arista after an unsuccessful tenure at Warner Bros. Records. The song brought Warwick renewed popularity when it reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, #6 in Canada and #13 on the Billboard Magazine R&B Chart. The song won Warwick a 1980 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The tune was certified by the RIAA as Gold for sales of over 1 million copies and helped her Arista debut album, Dionne, be certified by the RIAA as Platinum for album sales of over 1 million copies. Cheryl Ladd had previously recorded this song as "I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again" MP3 for her first album released in 1978.
